In 2022, Puerto Rico had the highest insurance penetration in Latin America. Insurance premiums constituted more than 16 percent of the GDP in Puerto Rico that year. This was followed by Chile, with insurance premiums making up more than four percent of its GDP. The third place ranking is completed by Colombia, with insurance premiums in this Latin American country making up 3.2 percent of its GDP.
