In July 2022, the number of tourists that arrived in Africa from overseas added up to around 5.1 million, which was significantly higher than the number in the same period in 2020 and 2021. This was due to effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the tourism industry. Also in 2022, the continent recorded its highest monthly count of international tourists in July.
