Select antibiotic prescription trends before and after generic entry U.S. 2000-2012
While in general there was no consistent pattern for the use of select antiobiotics after generic entry, for most antibiotics, as immediate trend, prescription rates increased following genetic entry. For instance, the prescription rate of ciprofloxacin increased from -8.07 per million population per month before to 37.58 immediately after generic entry.
This statistic shows the trends for select antibiotic prescriptions before (baseline trend) and after (immediate change in trend) generic entry in the United States, based on data gathered between 2000 and 2012.
