In 2019, the leading private sector producers for polypropylene (PP) resin production in Malaysia was Pengerang Petrochemical Company Sdn Bhd (Petronas & Saudi Aramco JV) with the capacity of producing 900,000 metric tons of virgin PP per year. Pengerang Petrochemical Company Sdn Bhd formed from the joint venture that happened in March 2018 between Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) and Saudi Aramco, which are the two of the largest national oil companies in the world.
