In 2022, the export volume of plastic waste from Japan to China amounted to approximately 2.9 million kilograms, decreasing significantly compared to around 749.3 million kilograms in 2017. Plastic exports from Japan to China dropped after 2017, when China started to restrict plastic waste imports.
