Number of public administration employees in Italy 2019, by sector and gender
In 2019, 3.2 million people were working for the Italian public administration. The majority of them were female employees, adding up to 1.9 million. The most numerous sector was education and research, in which 230 thousand men and around 960 thousand women were employed.
