Share of people working from home in Italy 2021, by industry
The COVID-19 pandemic, which first hit Italy in late February 2020, had a massive impact on life in the country. According to a recent survey, around 7.3 million people in Italy were working from home as of April 2021, corresponding to 31.6 percent of the total working population in Italy. When taking into account only the business services industry, however, this figure jumped to 54.5 percent. On the other hand, only 21.2 percent of people employed in the trade industry were working from home.
