Projected change in CO2 emissions worldwide 2021, by select country

In 2020, many countries experienced dramatic emissions reductions due to the outbreak of COVID-19. However, emissions are expected to rebound in 2021 as economies recover from the pandemic. Across the G20, energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are projected to increase 4.1 percent compared to 2020 levels. Emissions in Turkey are projected to rebound 7.2 percent, while China and the United States are expected to see emissions rebound more than five percent. In 2020, CO2 emissions from fuel combustion in the United States plummeted 10.7 percent compared to 2019 levels.
