As of 2023, the income generated from tourist accommodation in South Africa amounted to nearly 30.2 billion South African rand (just over 1.6 billion U.S. dollars). This was significantly higher compared to 2022. However, income from tourist accommodation was still slightly lower than that generated in 2018 and 2019, preceding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
