The income generated from tourist accommodation in South Africa amounted to 11.92 billion South African rand (around 758.41 million U.S. dollars) in 2021. In a monthly overview, December registered the highest income from accommodation that year, nearly 1.57 billion South African rand (99.66 million U.S. dollars). Further, the revenue from the accommodation of visitors was lowest in April 2020 at 45 million South African rand (2.86 million U.S. dollars) after the country entered a lockdown in an attempt to curb the rising coronavirus (COVID-19) infection rates.
