Basic wages of employees in South Africa Q1 2019-Q4 2021
As of the fourth quarter of 2021, the aggregated basic wages in South Africa reached over 719.6 billion South African rands (around 49.67 billion U.S. dollars). This was an increase from 713.4 billion South African rands(48.67 billion U.S. dollars) in the previous quarter. In the second quarter of 2020, the basic wages in the country dropped to nearly 610.9 billion South African rands (41.85 billion U.S. dollars), which was the lowest level recorded between 2019 and 2021. Overall, employee basic salaries increased during the period under review. Basic wages are the major component of the
