Japan: share of gym users by urbanity of area 2023

In a survey conducted in November 2023 in Japan, 19 percent of respondents living in Tokyo stated that they used fitness clubs during the past year. This was the cohort with the highest participation rate. A trend towards increased utilization of fitness facilities with growing degree of urbanity of the locality of the respondents could be observed.
