In October 2022, the benchmark interest rate in Myanmar stood at seven percent. Throughout 2022, the country has had the second highest inflation in Southeast Asia, second only to Laos. The central bank of Laos set a benchmark interest rate of 6.5 percent in October, counteracting a constantly rising inflation of over thirty percent as of September 2022.
