Share of electricity production from hydropower in the U.S. 1900-2022
Over the last century, electricity generation from hydroelectric power in the United States has been on a declining trend. As of 2022, hydropower accounted for some 6.3 percent of the electricity production in the U.S., down from around 40 percent in the year 1900.
