As of March 2024, Maharashtra held over 17 percent share of medium, small, and micro enterprises in India. It was followed by Tamil Nadu with more than 10 percent share. The Ministry of MSMEs runs various schemes to provide credit and financial assistance to MSMEs. The central government has also initiated schemes targeting the northeastern states of India.
