The operation of residential buildings worldwide consumed more energy than every other segment of the real estate and construction sectors together in 2022. Non-residential buildings were responsible for the consumption of 8.8 percent of all the energy used worldwide that year. Meanwhile, other construction activities, which is the segment that includes the construction of infrastructures, were responsible for over three percent of all energy consumption.
