According to a survey conducted in 2021, 33 percent of White male faculty and staff working in higher education strongly agreed that they had the same opportunities for advancement as other employees with similar experience and performance levels in the United States. In comparison, only 15 percent of Black female faculty and staff in higher education strongly agreed that these opportunities were available.
