In financial year 2023, around 127 billion Indian rupees of Universal Access Levy (UAL) were collected by Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) in India. It was a significant increase in comparison with the previous year. USOF was set up by the Indian government to provide basic telecommunications services, including mobile and internet services, to people in remote and rural areas at affordable prices.
