ESG bond as share of total bond issuance worldwide H1 2023, by country
In recent years, environmental, social and governance (ESG) bonds have been expanding and growing in popularity. During the first half of 2023, ESG bond issuance in the European Union amounted to approximately 13 percent of total bond issuance. In the United Kingdom ESG bond issuance reached seven percent of the total. On the other hand, ESG bonds issued in the United States and in Japan were roughly just one percent of total bonds issued.
