2015 United Kingdom (UK) general election results, by party

This statistic shows the result of the UK general election of May 7, 2015. The Conservative party won the most seats, and in contrast to the 2010 election, enough to form a majority government. Having confounded the pollsters who had widely predicted a much tighter election, David Cameron's Conservatives and the Scottish National Party (SNP) were by far the biggest winners. The SNP took 56 of the 59 seats that they contested in Scotland. Following the results the leaders of the Labour party, Liberal Democrats and UKIP resigned - Miliband, Clegg and Farage respectively.
