Number of licensed drinking premises in Scotland 2000-2017
This statistic shows the total number of licensed drinking premises in Scotland per year from 2000 to 2017. Numbers dropped during this time, from almost 18.5 thousand establishments in 2000, to around 16.3 thousand in 2014. According to the British Beer and Pub Association, the falling number of issued off-licenses in turn led to less drinking premises continuing to exist over the years. In 2017 there were approximately 16.7 thousand licensed establishments.
