Data on the number of hate crimes in England and Wales from 2019/2020, sorted by motivational factor, shows that while the most hate crimes occurred due to racial discrimination, the other motivational factors were involved in only a fraction of those numbers. The least common motivation for a hate crime was found to be a person’s transgender lifestyle.
