Volume of new tanker orders by product type 2011-2016
This statistic illustrates the annual numbers of new tanker orders worldwide by major product type from 2011 to 2016. From 2014 to 2015 the annual volume of new crude oil tankers increased form 155 in 2014 to 326 in 2015. During this timeframe the annual order volume of LNG tankers declined from 75 new LNG tankers in 2014 to 31 in 2015. The volume of LPG tankers during this timeframe declined from 108 in 2014 to 65 in 2015. In the first half of 2016, 22 new tankers for crude oil and the products of it, 29 new tankers for oil chemicals, four new LNG tankers and five new LPG tankers were ordered.
