Employment share in film production in France 2009-2014, by gender and job category

This statistic shows the share of employment in the film production industry in France between 2009 and 2014, broken down by gender and job category. During the period in consideration, there was a female majority in jobs such as script supervisor (96 percent of the workforce), wardrobe person (88.4 percent) and hairdresser (74 percent). In turn, men represented a majority in such jobs as grips (95.6 percent of the workforce), gaffer (95.7 percent) and driver (96 percent). 60.2 percent of actors were men. The share of women directors was 23.8 percent. In 2014, women represented 43.7 percent of employees in the French film production industry overall, compared to 40.5 percent in 2006.
