This statistic represents the results of a survey in 2017 across eight cities in India about the risk of accidents with pedestrians on mobile phones according to car drivers. A majority of drivers, about 53 percent responded that there was always a risk of accidents when pedestrians were on mobile phones, while 15 percent of drivers did not think so.

According to the source, within each city, four categories of drivers were surveyed: two-wheeler drivers, four-wheeler drivers, truck/bus drivers and auto-rickshaw drivers. Cities surveyed: Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Kanpur, Mumbai and Kolkata.
