In 2019, the maritime terminal Ponta da Madeira ranked first in the list of leading ports for export cargo handling in Brazil, with over 190 million metric tons in export throughput. Porto de Santos and the Terminal de Tubarão, which ranked second and third in the same list, reported a combined total export throughput of 150.51 million metric tons that same year.
