European citizens' voting intentions on their country's EU Membership in 2018 This statistic illustrates how European citizens would vote in a potential referendum regarding their country's EU membership, as of 2018. According to the data, support for remaining in the EU is the highest in Ireland and Luxembourg with 85 percent each, followed by Sweden (83 percent), Germany (82 percent) and Netherlands (80 percent). Even though the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU in the Brexit referendum of 2016, 53 percent of respondents in the survey would vote to remain.
