Average length of hospital stays in Mexico 2020, by diagnosis
In 2020, the average length of hospital stays due to mental and behavioral disorders amounted to around 36 days in Mexico, the highest among other causes of hospitalization. Diseases of the nervous system and congenital malformations, deformations, and chromosomal abnormalities followed that year, with an estimated hospital inpatient stay of about eight days. During that year, over 1.2 million out of the 3.5 million hospital discharges in the North American country were hospitalizations because of pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium.
