Hospital discharges in Mexico 2020, by diagnosis
In 2020, there were approximately 3.5 million hospital discharges in Mexico, from which over 1.2 million, or around 35 percent, were hospitalizations due to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium. Diseases of the digestive system were the second leading diagnosis for hospital discharges in the country, with more than 330 thousand hospitalizations reported that year. Meanwhile, mental and behavioral disorders accounted for the highest average length of hospital stay in Mexico in 2020.
