This statistic depicts the results of an online survey conducted in March 2019 in Japan asking individuals about their spending intentions for their holiday travels during Golden Week. During the survey period, around 15.5 percent of respondents traveling abroad during Golden Week planned to spend around 100 thousand to less than 150 thousand Japanese yen. In contrast, only 3.6 percent of respondents doing a domestic trip planned to spend the same amount.

The initial survey asked 20,000 respondents whether they intended to travel for one day or more during Golden Week. Out of the positive answers, 2,060 respondents were chosen to continue the survey. Golden Week refers to a week surrounding multiple national holidays starting at the end of April. According to the source, the target period of the survey starts April 25 and ends May 5, 2019. Only one answer was allowed.
