PSA International is a Singapore-headquartered port operator that manages several major ports worldwide. The group handled about 91.5 million TEUs in 2021. Currently, PSA International has 1,900 cranes in operation, about 42 thousand employees and a daily movement of about 250 thousand containers. As a result, it has generated a revenue of about 4.67 billion Singapore dollars in 2021, and is, based on the throughput, the largest marine terminal operator in the world.
Singapore lies on the Strait of Malacca and is therefore geographically positioned for maritime trade. The government started supporting the port early on, and the port has had a major impact on the country's economic situation ever since. Even though PSA International has undergone some extent of liberalization, the company is still owned by Temasek, a holding company owned by the government. This company aims to support businesses with good growth prospects to ensure Singapore’s economic development.
