* Two scenarios were considered: If countries do not meet their Paris climate pledges, it is expected that a 3 degrees Celsius (5.4°F) of warming will occur in this century compared to pre-industrial times; a 2 degree Celsius average increase is a more commonly cited goal. Compliance with the Paris Agreement includes minimizing temperature increase to a 1.5 degrees Celsius increasing in global temperature.
