Bahamas: employed population share by status 2015-2024
In 2019, the Bahamas was the Latin American or Caribbean country with the highest share of employees in its total employed workforce. In that year, approximately 85.9 percent of the employed population of the Bahamas held “paid employment jobs”, or jobs where they held employment contracts with right to basic remuneration. Moreover, the share of own-account workers are expected to oscillate between 13.7 and 13.6 percent for the near future, while the share of contributing family workers is estimated to remain constant as it has so far at 0.3 percent. On the other hand, the percentage of employers reported by the study remained at zero percent.
