By the end of 2021, there were 956 state-controlled enterprises in Guangdong's Pearl River Delta in total, generating over 2.16 trillion yuan in annual revenue. Adding Hong Kong and Macau, the Pearl River Delta is also called Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. This is one of the most economically active regions in China.
