Relative financial sector development indices Indonesia 2016
In 2016, Indonesia's financial institutions index was 0.43 out of 1. The government of Indonesia has acted to enhance the financial sector to improve its role in the country's economic development. An independent regulatory body, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), was created in 2011 to manage all financial service sectors. OJK established a Financial Sector Masterplan 2015-2019 and is currently implementing it. Some of the specific objectives include the enhancement of the role of the Shariah financial services sector (OJK 2016).
