Netherlands: sickness absence rate, by industry 2021

In 2021, the sickness absence rate in the Netherlands was under five percent. Employees working in healthcare had the highest sickness absence rate. On average, they were absent just under seven percent of the total working time. By comparison, among personnel in the IT sector, the sickness absence rate was slightly over 2.5 percent.

Hoeveel werkdagen heeft u, alles bij elkaar, de afgelopen 12 maanden naar schatting verzuimd?" (English: Have you taken sick leave in the past 12 months? How often have you taken sick leave in the past 12 months? How many working days do you estimate you have taken sick leave in the past 12 months?)

The source adds the following information: sick days include therapeutic work as well as respondents partially written sick.

The results have been weighted to represent the entire population, and were corrected for part-time employment.
