In 2018, major cities and inner-regional areas in Australia had the highest number of general practitioners (GP) per capita with 103.5 and 104.2 GPs per 100,000 of the population respectively. Although inner-regional areas had slightly more GPs per person than major cities, the density of GPs decreased considerably in outer-regional and remote areas.
