In a survey conducted in 2019, 96 percent of the male respondents in Australia believed that women had or would have equal rights in their country, this was slightly higher than the female respondents in Australia who agreed with the same statement. Comparatively in the same survey, 58 percent of the female respondents in Japan also believed that women had or would have the same rights as men in their country.
