On average, daily and casual smokers in Spain spent approximately 1.2 thousand euros per capita on cigarettes, cigars, roll-your-own and pipe loose tobacco during the 2009 to 2019 decade. There was a noticeable decrease in the per person spending on these products in 2011 and 2012, presumably due to the coming into force of the 2011 smoking ban, which restricted smoking in all indoor public places as well as near hospital or school facilities and raised cigarette prices by a wide margin.
