In 2021, there were 456 hotels in Malaysia's capital city of Kuala Lumpur, a decrease compared to 472 hotels in the previous year. The past five years had seen a boom in hotel construction; however, this has led to a decrease in the average room occupancy rate as supply has not kept up to increasing demand.
