Share of hotels and food services in Zanzibar's GDP 2016-2020
As of 2020, accommodation and food services contributed nearly 16 percent to Zanzibar's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The category was one of the main contributors to the archipelago's economy. That same year, hotels and restaurants added some 667 billion Tanzanian shillings (around 289 million U.S. dollars) to the GDP of the semi-autonomous region of Tanzania.
