Leading countries by tourist expenditure in Malta 2019-2022
The international tourist expenditure in Malta rose significantly in 2022 over the previous year, following a dramatic drop with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, travelers from the United Kingdom reported the highest inbound spending over the period considered. In 2022, the expenditure by British visitors in Malta amounted to roughly 417.5 million euros, increasing from around 221 million euros in 2021 but remaining below pre-pandemic levels.
