
Direct contribution of travel and tourism to employment in Africa 2019, by country
As of 2019, the direct contribution of travel and tourism to total employment in Africa remained around 2.5 percent. From a country perspective, African islands, with an already existing thriving tourism market, had the highest shares of people employed within the sector. For instance, in Seychelles and Cape Verde, nearly 19 percent and 13 percent of employees worked directly with tourism, respectively.
