Ghana: daily tourist expenditure

According to a survey conducted in Ghana in 2020, tourists in the country spent the most on accommodation. This reached an average value of 191.52 U.S. dollars daily per person. Expenditure on gifts accumulated an amount of 100.85 U.S. dollars per individual. Moreover, the average daily spending on local transportation was 58.23 U.S. dollars, the least among the other purposes. The overall international tourist expenditure in Ghana added up to 1,380 U.S. dollars in 2019.

It adds the that: "The overall objective of this study was to assess the impact of December in GH (Year of Return Events) on the tourism sector from the perspective of the tourist who participated in the programme".

The December In Gh (DiGh) event was "launched as a new tourism product by the Ghana Tourism Authority to drive people to Ghana which is increasingly becoming the destination for Christmas and New Year celebration".
