During a May 2020 survey, 49 percent of restaurant-goers in the United States stated that they do not agree with restaurants increasing menu prices or adding an additional surcharge or fees to checks or bills as a result of the new costs related to the coronavirus pandemic. In contrast, 22 percent of respondents stated that they are in favor of restaurants increasing menu prices to cover COVID-19 related costs.
