In 2021, 99 percent of bathing waters assessed in England met minimum standards. Meanwhile, 70.7 percent were classified as excellent. The proportion of bathing sites in England ranked as excellent is lower than in many other countries in Europe, with Austria achieving the highest ranking in 2021, with 97.7 percent of bathing sites having excellent quality.
