In March 2020, the monthly users of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China's mobile banking apps reached 68 million users, a more than three million user increase to the previous month. After the spread of COVID-19, the national banking regulatory commission (CBIRC) published documents recommending commercial banks to improve their online banking services. In the first quarter of 2020, the number of online banking users in China increased by 3.6 percent reaching 421 million users.
