Elected Government was the sub-attribute of democracy with the highest achievement (score of 1) in Ghana within the period of 1975 and 2019, followed by Inclusive Suffrage with a score difference of 0.9. Achievements for Direct and Local Democracy were the two lowest compared to other sub-attributes. Overall, democracy in Ghana was on Mid-range performance in the period from 1975 to 2019.

Ghana ranked 58th (score of 6.68) and 55th (score of 6.64) in world democracy in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana allowed every Ghanaian citizen who is 18 years and above to be registered as a voter to exercise their right to vote in public elections as well as referenda.
