Abortion numbers in Belgium 2006-2021
In 2021, around 16.7 thousand abortions were officially performed in Belgium. In the country, abortions can be performed up until 12 weeks from conception (14 weeks of amenorrhea). Passed this time limit, abortion is only possible when the pregnancy endangers the women's health or when medical examinations reveal that the baby will suffer from an incurable and serious condition. However, some Belgian women have an abortion in the Netherlands where the time limit is 24 weeks.
