Share of women who have unmet needs for family planning in Europe 2021
In 2021, over six percent of women in Europe want to stop or delay childbearing but are not using a method of contraception. The unmet need for family planning was especially high in Southern Europe where 11 percent of married women were not using a contraception method yet wanted to stop or delay childbearing. Northern and Western Europe, on the other hand, showed lower rates of unmet family planning needs.
